Audit Committee

An Audit Committee is a major committee of a company's board of directors that has responsibility for overseeing financial reporting and statements. While all publicly traded companies are required to have an audit committee, nearly all major companies that produce audited financial statements will have an audit committee as part of its board. The audit committee of most companies will be chaired by a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Audit committees must take their responsibilities very seriously.
